Elder's Mela in Secunderabad (Andhra Pradesh) on 1st Oct to 3nd Oct. 2011. (1)

The First Indian Senior Citizen Market Fair in Secunderabad (A.P.)

                   ELDERS’ MELA - 2011

Finally, the long-awaited Elders' Mela would take place during three days, as a focal point for all senior citizens and their families from 1st October to 3nd October from 10am to 7pm, 2011 in Zoroastrian Club in S.P. Road, Secunderabad.

We are inviting all those firms, institutions and organizations which are producing all kinds of goods, services and opportunities to improve the quality of life of the senior citizens to exhibit and demonstrate the same. Government departments would illustrate facilities offered under different schemes and programmes. Many private bodies would hold free health camps or distribution of materials.  A series of thematic sessions and events are also planned to bring awareness as well as to entertain the senior citizens. About 60 stalls would cater to the needs of the senior citizens of all economic and social status in terms of food, health, housing, pensions, financial planning, leisure, learning and tourism. On this occasion, a number of Elders Homes which were formerly called Old Age Homes from all the districts would be present. Some of them would deserve the financial support from the generous individuals and corporate institutions who would be visiting the stalls and participating in the events. We want to commence this as an annual state-level event.

Inaugurated by the model head of the family, Sri. Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu, eminent cine artiste on the first day, the second day i.e.1st October, which is a World Elders Day would be celebrated officially as well as by HelpAge India, an international NGO devoted to the cause of the elders. On the third day, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, Sri. Ambati Lakshmana Rao garu, former chief justice of Allahabad High Court and the president of the Red Cross Society of India would preside over the activities.

Sponsoring, setting up stalls, advertisements in the Souvenir, publicity hoardings, hoardings at the venue and donations to the elders homes.
