‎"According to the 2001 census, the state housed 11 per cent of over 77 million elder citizens in the country. The census revealed that the state had a ratio of 10 senior citizens to 100 people in 2001. Life-expectancy at Kerala is about 71 years."

"This situation poses a huge threat to the state, calling for increased impetus on health and welfare for the elderly. This calls for focused strategies."


"Kerala has won over all other states in India, by achieving the goals of national family planning and population control. It is in the last stages of eradicating low fertility and mortality rates."
